Wyrm, a sentient form of malware, has taken over Bludhaven, unbeknownst to it citizens. In a world not unlike our own, where information is hard currency, it susses out the deepest, darkest secrets of anyone unknowingly connected – and that includes Dick Grayson. Not only his own secrets, but those he keeps for others.

Thankfully, Dick has Barbara Gordon his side, and her hacker abilities as Oracle to A.) craft a defense against the dark web; and B.) overcome the techno-virus and seek out the connective tissue among Wyrm’s most prominent victims. Amazingly, it leads her straight to the culprit – or so we assume. Hopefully, like communism, this guy is nothing more than a red herring, because I would hate to believe it’s just that simple.

Savvy as Babs is regarding weaponized computer programming, there’s someone else in Dick’s circle o’ friends who could lend a hand. But that might bring the tale to a premature anti-climax. (That’s okay, we can just cuddle). But in the current continuity, I’m not sure Cyborg and Nightwing have the friendship they once did. More’s the pity.

In my opinion, the story arc so far lacks the gravitas to justify a six-issue story event, but I could be wrong. But I love the introduction of Nightwing’s underground bunker, from which he and Batgirl can strategize against the bad guys. However, given its plethora of high-tech hardware, is it not vulnerable to Wyrm as well? We’ll see.
