This issue launches a new story arc, and is written by Sam Humphries, while Tim Seeley moves over to the Green Lanterns title. Also new this issue is Bernard Chang as artist. It’s impossible to say how long that will last, but given his success on Batman Beyond, we’re hopeful he’ll stick around.

Also new this issue is Dick Grayson career as a cross-trainer. Why not? He’s fit, and capable of teaching a few civilian clients the best way of trimming body fat and not being a victim. Also new is a new player in town – a nondescript hipster who seems capable of talking anybody into doing anything. But to what self-serving purpose?

Things are just ramping up, so there’s no way to tell if this is a positive step for the series or not. Nightwing has stumbled since the Rebirth era started, but it seems to have found its legs. Whether it can remain upright is yet to be determined, but so far so good.

If you’re a casual fan who’s been turned off by the lukewarm reviews on this book, now may be the best time to jump on board and give it a test drive. It’s a brand new day in Bludhaven.
