The Martian Manhunter has to combat four white Martians who thought they were green Martians. However, this is not an easy fight for him. But more troubling is who is responsible for tricking many Martians. Only someone with a strong mind and as much power as the Martian Manhunter could achieve such a feat. The answer might be more troubling for J’onn J’onzz than he thought it would be.

After such a series of slow-moving events, there is finally something happening - a big fight. However, as Lieberman has done before in this series, he conveniently skips the fight in favour of more introspection and plot thickens moments. Of course, the white Martians’ defeat is too easy, although J’onn keeps complaining it is not. But more troubling of all, is that not much happened this issue.

I realize that with a stronger inker, Barrionuevo’s work could look better. The art has improved, but the inking has not. Characters’ faces look much better than in previous issues. It seems that Barrionuevo’s skill is best used in fight scenes than in introspective detective like stories. He makes the white Martians look as good as a JLA artist before him, although they keep shooting rays from their palms.

7/10
