The League and the Justice Society team up to stop meta-humans with elemental powers being influenced by the chaotic energy released by the Starheart, the source of power of the original Green Lantern as well as his children, jade and Obsidian. But will the heroes be strong enough to contain the magical influence of the Starheart, or will they fall prey to its wicked influence as well?

There’s a lot of action and internal monologue showing the motivations and fears of characters such as Donna Troy, Batman and Jade. That’s good. If one is looking of an action-filled series, this is the one. The best part of this story is that Robinson has a great handle on all the characters from the Justice League and the Justice Society. Few writers are as comfortable writing that many characters and understanding them well.

I do like how Robinson writes female characters. They are very strong and capable. Well, Jade is not, but that is part of her appeal and an essential plot point in this story. The second story with Cyborg and the Red Tornado is not as interesting, but does establish a link and camaraderie between the two characters.

Bagley is an action-oriented artist and his work is one of the most dynamic of the comic book industry. There’s a kind of energy that was only found in older John Byrne stories that is still refreshing. However, I have to admit that reading this comic book feels like reading a Marvel comic book as opposed to a DC Comics’ title.
