Warner Brother Home Entertainment will release Justice League: War, the first DC Universe Animated Original movie on February 4, 2014. Since rebooting its universe in 2011's 52 event, DC Comics movies have generally portrayed the old universe prior 2011. In its Flashpoint original movie, Warner Brother hinted at the changes in the animated DC Comics universe but did not explore it much. In Justice League: War, all of that changes.

Justice League: War shows the new origin of the Justice League as new super heroes Superman, Green Lantern, Batman, Flash, Wonder Woman, Cyborg and Captain Marvel try to stop Darkseid from invading planet Earth, just like in the old Super Friends cartoons! Justice League: War is of course a loose adaptation of Geoff Johns and Jim Lee's Justice League rebooted title for the new 52 universe.

The new 52 universe is two-years-old now and it still remains to be seen whether it will be a success. Long time DC Comics fans such as me, have long felt the reboot was useless and generally have drifted off and lost interest in DC Comics ever since. Justice League: War, is a parallel endeavour to Marvel Comics, where both publishers and their respective media parent (Warner Brothers, and Disney) attempt to force the comic book universe to match the film and video game world promoted by the media parents.

Personally, I think this stifles creativity and is a strategy geared more towards promoting properties and improving the finances of media conglomerate than to entertain fans. Justice League: War will be one of those test where we will see if the team that works on the series can create something spectacular while obeying the orders from the bosses in the corner office, or if it will be a movie empty of any redeeming value. It will likely fall somewhere in the middle. We will see on February 4, 2014.
