With a Harley
Quinn comic book, you expect a certain level of humour and craziness. Maybe I’m
a bit dim, but it’s taken me this long to figure out “the level of the room,”
so to speak. It’s much more subtle and cerebral, somewhat like the British
sense of humour (which I rarely understand, so there ya go).
Take one part Wizard of Oz, throw in some psycho-funka-delic trippiness, and add a dash of roller derby, with a modicum of psycho-analysis (physician, heal thyself), and that’s the latest issue of Harley. Oh, and the dachshund’s name is Nathan. Get it?
If I had a complaint, it’s that the ending was a bit telegraphed early in the story. But it was nice seeing Mike Kaluta draw a few pages again. He was one of my favorite artists back in the day, but he’s been off the radar so long, I can’t help but wonder where he’s been.
