A new story arc launches, this one by Nightwing scribe Tim Seeley. It features a certain amount of character advancement, as Jessica’s therapist encourages her to begin looking for employment. Simon’s sister does the same, but in a far less sympathetic manner. Either way, both hit the job market, though both are victims of self-sabotage.

No doubt the role of Green Lantern is expected to come first, making family obligations, jobs, and other commitments take a back seat. But it makes me wonder what allowances the Guardians made for their GLs who still had to earn a living. Did the Guardians offer a salary? Health insurance? 401(k)?

But I digress.

For those seeking more action in this issue, there is that. Simon and Jessica are called upon to safeguard a planet whose star is about to go nova. Though primitive and benign, the inhabitants are content to allow nature to take its course, even to the point of extinction. Fortunately, the Lanterns have help (of a sort).

A new creative team is in place, but whether it’s permanent or temporary remains to be seen. Regardless, it may freshen the bloom on one of Rebirth’s earliest titles. Not that it needed it, necessarily, but after 30+ issues, perhaps it’s time.
