Simon and Jessica saved the world from the Red Lanterns. Now, it’s Miller time (figuratively speaking). They take a break with Simon’s family, awaiting the arrival of Simon’s mom, who has a history of being rather demanding of her son.

Sure, as a Green Lantern, Jessica has the ability to overcome great fear. But Simon’s mom? Head for the hills!

I can appreciate their hesitation, and the desire for another world crisis to pull them away from the family dinner table. Some people can be very hard to please, and show almost no appreciation for effort. I could come home from school and tell my mother I scored a 99 on my test, only to have her ask, “Why didn’t you score 100?” With encouragement like that, it’s a wonder I ever graduated.

It’s hardly a great story; mostly a simple palate cleanser before the next big story arc. It appears a long-standing enemy (though not of the Green Lanterns) is on the warpath once more, as we will no doubt see in upcoming issues. And Simon and Jessica have that diversion they hoped for.
