The newest Lanterns are back in basic training. Simon Baz has to punch Kyle Radner and Jessica has to beat Guy Gardiner. The cherry on top of this issue is a flashback to white Martians, and of course the Guardians doing their cryptic, mysterious antics.

As I gushed about the art in my Green Arrow review so shall I rave about the art of the Green Lanterns comic, the style is very different but the art here is just as good. The pencils are clean and creative, but a lot of credit also goes to the Colorist,  the art of this comic screams of cosmic epic beauty.

And the writing is so much fun, very comic bookish. Humphries embraces the history of the Green Lanterns Corps but adds his own fresh perspective. The result is a fun comic that is fun because it knows what it is , very self aware but never absurd or over the top. Well not too over the top anyhow.
As charming as Jessica is, the show stealer is of course Guy Gardiner and Humphries has a solid grasp of him and all the characters.

Rating: 8/10
