The Weaponer, a warrior from the anti-matter universe has kidnapped Green Lantern Soranik Natu and now, her boyfriend, Kyle Rayner leads a team to rescue her. Only this bad guy has a weapon that enables him to counteract all of their power rings.

This story moves swiftly, giving each member of its huge cast just enough time in the limelight before the plot pushes forward. This is quite a refreshing change from the comics which spend whole pages just showing someone standing around or talking. The creative team realises that this is an ensemble comic book and uses all its characters to give the story a wider scope rather than going the easy route by just focusing on the more popular members like Kyle or John Stewart. The result is a more satisfying tale and a more interesting comic that won't have to rely on two or three characters to sell copies.

The unexpected plot twists also keep interesting, reminding us that all of these different characters have their own stories, their own background and agenda.

But the art is too messy, filled with splashes of dark ink that make the book hard to read and to look at. Perhaps this style is intended to evoke the violence of the action and the squalor of the setting but some of the characters' bodies are just laid out in strange ways.
