Star Sapphire returns, seeking out the right body to seduce Hal Jordan. Yes, you heard that right. There is a rather overt carnality to this issue with our villainess looking and acting like a sex-starved chorus girl. But this story-arc promises to finally explain the full origins of the Star Sapphire(s) and maybe explain more about the new character of "Cowgirl" who has apparently become the new object of Jordan's desire. The art by Acuna, takes some getting used to, with all its dark shadows and heavy, liquid curves, so different from the usual Green Lantern art teams. Still, he does pull this story off. Still, the the main story in this issue does seem a little thin. That is because part of this comic is devoted to a backup story on the new "Sinestro Corps"-- an evil, terrorist counterpart to the Green Lantern Corps. We get a reasonably spooky tale of how one member of the Sinestro Corps wipes out an entire planet, right under the nose of its Green Lantern protector. This may seem like a waste of good comic space but it helps build up the Corps. as a major threat. Hopefully, the final confrontation between the rival groups will be worth all the time they are devoting to these new bad guys.
