Genius

Joss. Whedon.

Yes, you read that right. Joss Whedon! He of 'Buffy', 'Angel', 'Firefly', 'Serenity', and 'Dollhouse' fame. Rumour has it that the man himself is going to be directing the Avengers movie. I think that is beyond excellent.

The Avengers are a group of superheroes who banded together to defeat a common foe. The first issue was published in 1963 and the series hasn't looked back since. It has had it's highs and lows, but has been an ever present in the Marvel Comic Book stable. The Avengers was originally made up of Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk, Ant-man and the Wasp. Captain America was to join them in their adventures as 'Earth's Mightiest Heroes'. I remember reading issues of this comic book series and devouring each issue. The Avengers, comprised of  gods, monsters, scientists and more, captivated me no end.

A movie featuring these heroes is a great idea. And with films that will be introducing most of the characters to the general public already here or in the pipeline (Thor, Ant-Man), this movie could be big. And we know how well Joss Whedon handles ensemble characters. And with Jon Favreau executive producing we have the makings of a knowledgeable and winning team. It sounds as if some supporting characters that we have seen in recent films might feature too.  I am looking forward to seeing how this one develops. I'm really looking forward to seeing the movie too! We'll keep you updated.
