It’s Aquaman versus the Justice League who demands that Arthur answers for Atlantis’s attacks on the United States. The war between Atlantis and the United States is starting to take a toll on both sides and yet Aquaman continues to keep his cool, regardless of Black Manta’s machinations. But will that be enough to save Atlantis from the destruction of the surface world?

I was expecting a fight between Aquaman and the Justice League. That did not happen. Instead, the heroes talked through their problems and misunderstandings like adults before splitting to deal with the crisis. Am I reading a super hero comic?

I like this story very much but I cannot help but feel that this has all been done before, except not as well. This storyline could be one of the defining one for Aquaman as it explains his character and trials while trying to keep both the surface world and Atlantis at peace. One thing that worries me all the time in this storyline is that Atlantis will be destroyed. I credit Abnett with making Atlantis more than Vulko and Mera, making readers care about all these characters and people for once.

I am starting to prefer Scot Eaton’s Aquaman better than Philippe Briones’s version. Although each draws Atlantis as a generic science fiction set, Eaton’s rendition is less cleaner even with Wayne Faucher cleaning the pencils with inks.
