Superboy visits the Superman museum in the 31st century and learns the fate that is waiting for him in adulthood.

This story, set in the early years of the Legion of Superheroes, has the super-teens busting up some space pirates but the main focus is Superboy realising what the future holds for him as Superman-- and feeling himself buckling under the strain.

It gives us a good look into a Superboy who isn't the confident, experienced hero that we are used to. If anything, the Superboy here is even 'greener' than the character who appeared in the original Legion stories in the 1960s. This helps give this strip a different angle from all the 'Super-books' that are out there already.

Between the action and the drama and a mystery about a "ghost" haunting the Legion, this book offers a well-balanced story.

The art is not as well-balanced. The depiction of the futuristic machinery and setting is very good and very detailed but many of the human figures are rather stiff. And all of the Legion members look like they are still carrying a bit too much baby-fat on their faces (especially the girls.)

The Atom back-up feature has the size-shrinking hero delving into a mystery in his past and battling hoods with similar powers to his-- except that they blow up when they use them. It lacks enough excitement but at least the mystery is genuinely puzzling and leaves the reader wanting to know more.
