Superman and Booster Gold are still stuck in the future, with no means of returning to their proper time. And even if there were, General Zod and his twisted family are standing in the way. The general’s son, Lor-Zod, is a grown man, and with Ursa in the mix, they are more than a match for the Last Son of Krypton.

But Booster is not without his own resources, and holds the key to escaping the clutches of Zod and returning Superman to his proper time. Ironically, he just needs more time.

The story seems to conclude, which is fine by me, though I was expecting Superman to return to a timeline different than the one he left – yet another re-set in the DC Universe, to coincide with Action Comics #1,000. Thankfully, that didn’t happen, so far as we know.

This issue is labeled #998, but last issue was #996, so I can’t help but wonder what happened to #997. Unless this is #997, and DC has mis-numbered it – much like a recent issue of Bombshells United. Given Action Comics’ proximity to the landmark #1,000, DC needs to be more careful. Perhaps going back to monthly publishing would be a step in the right direction.

Sure, maybe I’m picking a nit, but let’s face it – if someone in DC editorial is unable to handle as simple a task as sequential numbering, it erodes consumer confidence.
