The Superman family joins forces with Doomsday to fight the monsterous Doomslayer.

The creators don't give us the backstory on the whole "Reign of Doomsday" saga so those who haven't been following the tale will have to piece things together from the dialogue. But they do give us an entertaining tale with clever twists and turns and a suitable amount of action. We can see how Superman, Supergirl, Superboy and Steel are pushed to the extreme, forcing other superheroes to join the fight. But the focus remains on the 'S'-family and it is clear that this is their threat to deal with and that this is a threat that is worthy of their talents.

The art is detailed and very beautiful but it also looks rather subdued. For all the action taking place, we don't really see it leaping out of the page at us. We don't 'feel' the impact of the punches or the heat of the battle in the way that we would in the art of guys like Kirby or even Sal Buscema or Herb Trimpe. Franky, the art doesn't fit a story of what should be a violent and desperate struggle.
