As reported at Newsarama, Rick Remender and John Cassaday will be the creative team on the upcoming Uncanny Avengers, a series that stars a cross section of both Avengers and X-Men working together as a team to thwart threats to both mankind and mutantkind alike. The reported (also at Newsarama) first villain that the new team of heroes will face will be the Red Skull. Apparently, the Red Skull is out to destroy mutantkind and only the combined forces of both the X-Men and The Avengers, in the form of the Uncanny Avengers, can thwart his dastardly plans.

As we've heard many, many times from the powers that be at Marvel Comics, ReEvolution and Marvel NOW! are not reboots in the vein of DC Comics' The New 52. I have my doubts about this initiative, but am more and more starting to feel some admiration towards the decision on Marvel Comics' behalf to NOT reboot their universe while creating the same type of excitement (and scorn) that DC Comics did a year ago. Instead they are opting to tweak it and retool it in a way that makes it appear like it's a "New 52" kind of "relaunch," but instead is simply an update to their long standing (albeit pretty broken in spots) and ever evolving continuity. Perhaps the best aspect of Marvel NOW! is that the past several years of quality storytelling will not be tossed out and be deemed irrelevant, or be inexplicably forced into the new continuity as cannon, like much of the last decade of DC Comics' stories have. I'm intrigued...
