Displaying a shocking restraint from the type of gore that usually slathers his work, Seeley does an excellent job of hooking the reader and compelling them to want to continue reading what looks to be an interesting new adventure in the grand Constantine style. There's mystery, magic, an old flame, strange (maybe Norse?) supernatural beings running about, at the heart of it all is, of course, a dastardly deed done either by Constantine himself, or by someone to which he is supplying a healthy dose of murderous inspiration. Hence the title of the arc "The Inspiration Game." The presence of Jesus Merino's considerable artistic talents are a welcome relief here. Merino captures the gritty, grimy mage and magicks that populate Constantine's world much better than previous arc's artist Davide Fabbri. Fabbri's work was solid and suited to the medium, just not Constantine's tales. Seeley can really amaze me with his stories and art at times, and bore me to tears at others.
