Part of DC Comics’ revival plan calls for tighter continuity. To reinforce this and its collective universe, long time writer and continuity expert has signed up an exclusive contract with Kurt Busiek, the acclaimed creator of Astro City, a comic book set in a well-defined super hero universe. Busiek has worked in the comic book industry for years and has been one of the most important writers of the Marvel Comics’ Avengers in the last years.
Chosen as the writer on Marvel Comics and DC Comics’ Avengers/JLA mini-series inspired upon the failed 1980s joint collaboration between the two largest publishers in the North American industry, Busiek was the preferred choice of both publisher because he had worked extensively at both companies and was known as a writer who carefully researched past continuity.
Writer Geoff Johns, who is currently spearheading the revival at DC Comics was already named in a custodian-like position to oversea continuity at DC Comics. Busiek will co-write the 8-part story “Up, Up and Away” with Geoff Johns beginning in March’s Superman #650 and Action Comics #837. Busiek will also work on Aquaman, a series that was set to be cancelled but will be rebooted at issue #40 with a new main hero and artist Jackson Guice.
