Copro/Nason Gallery proudly presents “THE BLAB! SHOW,” the United States’ first-ever Group Art Exhibition featuring the provocative artists from BLAB! magazine. America’s leading anthology of illustration, found graphics, and sequential storytelling showcases the boldest offerings from the leading lights of narrative illustration and painting.
Artists represented in the exhibition are: GARY BASEMAN, TIM BISKUP, STEPHANE BLANQUET, GREG CLARKE, DONALD OWEN COLLEY, AMY CREHORE, BRIAN CRONIN, ANDREA DEZSO, DREW FRIEDMAN, TOM HUCK, TERESA JAMES, PETER KUPER, LAURA LEVINE, MATS!?, WALTER MINUS, JOHN POUND, CHRISTIAN NORTHEAST, JONATHON ROSEN, SERGIO RUZZIER, DAVID SANDLIN, OWEN SMITH, SPAIN, FRED STONEHOUSE, MARC ROSENTHAL, GARY TAXALI, ESTHER PEARL WATSON, and MARK TODD.
BLAB! is the brainchild of Chicago art director Monte Beauchamp, editor of THE LIFE & TIMES OF R. CRUMB (St. Martin’s Press) and many other alternative publications. Beauchamp’s work has appeared in GRAPHIS, PRINT, COMMUNICATION ARTS, AMERICAN ILLUSTRATION, and THE SOCIETY OF ILLUSTRATORS. He has received numerous awards, including five New York Festival Awards for Excellence in Print and Television Communications.
Since its debut in 1986, every issue of BLAB! has been painstakingly edited, art directed, designed, and packaged by Beauchamp. With each 10" x 10" square bound volume taking nearly a year to produce, BLAB! is clearly a labor of love. By providing a showcase for artists to experiment, the magazine has set new standards attracting the best illustration talent working today. And now, that talent has been gathered together for their first North American art show!
Guests attending the opening include: BLAB! founder Monte Beauchamp, Gary Baseman, Tim Biskup, Drew Friedman, Fred Stonehouse, Laura Levine, Greg Clarke, Gary Taxali, Owen Smith, Esther Pearl Watson, Mark Todd, Teresa James, and Tom Huck.
