In the aftermath of Magneto'srampage upon NYC and the Xavier Institute, Cyclops& Emmafind themselves at a crossroads. Should the school be rebuilt? Should they continue on as X-Men? And how will it affect their blossoming relationship?
A lot of people criticise Chuck Austen’splotting, dialogue and writing as a whole, but this issue seemed to be a perfect continuation of how Grantleft things. The story started with the kiss between Scottand Emmaand has a very natural progression from that point. Emma’sreaction to what Scottsays really fits into her character and need to be number one. And it seems fitting that she is the one who is really seeking for a continuation of the school.
Looking at this book reminds me how much I dug Larrocaon X-Treme X-Men. His chemistry with Austenseems perfect. You get a real sense of the devastation that Magnetocaused to Salem and the Institute and there is a definite poignant feel to the issue. Larroca’srendering of Beasthas a regal flare to him and there is a cold edge to Scottthat seems fitting. Undonhave to get a mention, as the colouring is the ideal accompaniment to Larroca.
