New X-Men Academy #06

The battle over the fate of young Kevin Ford turns explosive as the New Mutants go head-to-head with the Hellions! Loyalties betrayed! New alliances formed!

This issue seemed very fragmented. We have jumps, it would seem, in time that just seem to highlight the fact that this arc should have been split into two. The whole situation with Kevin could have been a separate arc and then the jumps wouldn't have been necessary and the flow would have seemed more sequential. The story did get closure, but some of the things seemed forced, especially the ending.

Ryan continues to stamp his mark on the book. It's refreshing to see his renditions of the characters. It does seem more like young kids, which is nice. When David meets Sofia, we get an incredible wind affect sequence, which probably is the highlight of the book. The covers OK, but we already got a team clash cover for issue #4, so it would have been nice to have something different.
