The X-Men travel deep to the heart of Africa to investigate reports of strange, mutated animals roaming wild near Wakanda. But what happens when their discoveries lead them to the King of Wakanda himself - T'Challa, the Black Panther?! This issue leads into BLACK PANTHER #8!

I haven’t picked up this book for a while, but with the crossover with Black Panther an all. It’s a bit hard to judge fairly, as I don’t know what Milligan has been setting up. But the bickering between characters really seemed to bog things down. Couple to that some bad dialogue and it’s not a great start. The story concept itself however is kinda intriguing. And we are left with a somewhat interesting end. So things are ripe for Hudlin and hopefully as the story will be in full swing, Milligan’s next outing will be better.

Larroca does a solid job on pencils. Everything is clear and conscious and we get some nice little touches, like the reflections in glasses. He also does a good job at rendering the monster mutates. We are also treated to a real nice centre splash page. With the addition of the smaller panels in the adjacent corners, it makes it even more fulfilling. The cover is really eye catching and Liquid! do a really nice job with the colouring.

Report Card - C

Koncise an out :)
