The X box defines itself as the next step in the evolution of gaming. It really is a customized personal computer with a sleek design. Gamers can choose from one of both variant, the core edition that comes with USB, Ethernet ports, high end graphics display and of course, a ubiquitous DVD payer set up. The premium version comes with wireless connectivity, a 20-gig drive and membership to a download and chat platform for Xbox 360 users.
Year after year, platform makers try to convince hardcore gamers to upgrade their set up for their latest toys. In order to catch this market, set up boxes are becoming closer to personal computers. It’s a tight race with Microsoft and Sony leading the way. Microsoft is betting that kids and boyfriends will pester their parents and girlfriends for this $300 toy ($400 for the Premium). Microsoft’s offer is sweet and I bet many will take the gamble. However, a few extra original games could help a bit.
