ULTIMATE X-MEN #52: CRY WOLF" pt. 3 (of 4)
It's the Ultimate X-Men versus the Fenris twins - with Rogue and Gambit in the middle! The Fenris twins threaten to expose Gambit's past sins - and they are many - unless he obeys them. But, with Rogue on the other side, to whom will the Ragin' Cajun finally lend his loyalty?
This was a well written issue, but it did seem kinda, now that's taken care of.......next. Things seem like they really could have been rapped up in this issue completely, but maybe there's going to be a real shock in store, who knows. The character interaction within the issue is good however. The dynamic between Rogue & Gambit is developed well. And so is the whole Storm, Wolverine situation.
The book really has a dark feel to it with this story. Justin Ponsor does an outstanding job throughout with the lighting effects....and Iceman. Kubert doesn't slip up either. Every panel has a nice flow to it. All the fights are energised and have a real action feel to it. He also handles the other moments well. Bobbies anger at being left behind, Kitty and Dazzler going at it. And both the joy of discovery and anger of betray on Rogue's face.
