The Warriors is a beat em up style game developed by Rockstar Toronto. The game is based on a movie of the same name made in the 70's. Rockstar of course, is responsible for the Grand Theft Auto series and Manhunt, both of which were extremely violent games where you played the bad guy, this game, follows that formula.
Everybody loves Grand Theft Auto, that's a given. But another game developed by Rockstar called Manhunt, is a personal favorite of mine. The reason I bring this up is because while this game has nothing to do in nature with Manhunt, it did however, bring up a few of the same feelings I had while playing that game, which for a person who loved that game, is only a good thing.
The Warriors has you playing as a local gang called The Warriors. Just one gang in a city of many, you have to gain respect by Spray Painting your gangs logo over rival gangs, beating the hell out of other gangs, stealing, defending your turf, invading other gangs turf, etc. Primarily, the game is a beat em up, which is basically fighting huge amounts of enemys at one time, theirs also some stealth action, where you can hide in the shadows and sneak around. The fighting system is done well, you can lock onto your target by pressing L1 or you'll automatically lock onto the nearest one. You have 3 types of attacks, normal and heavy strikes as well as grappling, where you can take your enemy down and pound him. The stealth action has you hiding in the shadows, from here you can either sneak past your enemys or silently kill them from behind if needed.

The story deals with a meeting, organized by the leader of the city's biggest gang, the game, take's place 90 days before that meeting. I don't think the story itself is all that special, but, the way the story is told, is. Trying not to give anything away, their's a moment in the game, where your being chased in a car by a guy you will learn to hate. He stops the car and from the back seat looks out at you, with 3 beer bottles on the ends of his finger's he bangs them together in rythem and say's over an over again, "Warriors, come out and Play" Man, that was awsome.
Graphically, you may hear people say it's a mixed bag, but me, I think their great. Because of the nature of games like these, where their are a lot of enemys on screen. You must have an acceptable framerate, you can't do this and everything have the graphically quality of Final Fantasy X. So saying the graphics are'nt that good is kind of a weird thing to say, in the sense that they can't look any better.

Sound is awesome, music fit's the theme of the game and the sound effect's are perfect. The voice acting is among the best i've heard, with a few of the original actor's in the movie, reprising their role.
The Warrior's is an outstanding game, I find it hard to complain about anything. The main story of the game will last you anywhere from 10 to 12 hours and features enough extra's to keep you around for a few more. It's atmosphere will keep you sucked in, almost ensuring you'll never have moments where your aggravated or fustrated. I remember a long time ago, thinking what it would be like playing the bad guy in a game, well, Rockstar has made that come true on 5 occasion's now for me, and everyone of those game's I hold in hi regard.
