The dark new series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson heats up as Wee Hughie gets his first taste of action with the Boys when Butcher throws him into the deep end. Meanwhile, meet the planet's mightiest heroes, The Seven, and the young superheroine who would join them.
The Boys is the best thing going on in Comic's right now, I truly believe that. I thought issue #1 was great, and thought equally of #2, but #3...#3 absolutely clinches it. In this issue, we meet the Supergroup - The Seven, as they welcome a new member who is joining them. At the same time, we also see Hughie as he arrives in America and meets with the other member's of The Boys. By the end of this issue, we'll see what their 1st mission will be, and gain alittle more insight on it's members as well as The Seven. I've been trying to pinpoint exactly why The Boys is so great, and I think i've found it - it's everything...That's a weak answer you might be saying..but hey, rarely does something shine on all fronts - and The Boys does. The writing reminds me of the movie "Pulp Fiction", not so much in subject matter of course, but in it's general nature. Imagine something thats so awesome it makes you laugh, that's The Boys.
The art is fantastic, imagine a melding of "The Serious" (which would be the serious, angry nature of the Boys and their mission) and the Cartoonish (Superheros and their fluffy nature) and that's what the art mirrors - A collision of 2 worlds, it's absolutuly genius. If your not reading this series, then go start now, because your missing out on something that's truly great.
