Representing a story that originally appeared in SUPERMAN/BATMAN, this issue is basically a showcase of the new Supergirl's abilities, showing her outdoing Superman and beating some supervillains rather handily. There is a nice tip of the hat to the old Supergirl-Batgirl team-ups and the action scenes are fun even if they don't really make much sense. The art is a little too "busy", showing every raindrop that falls on Supergirl's impossibly-shapely body. But at least the art doesn't get in the way of the story or resort to excessive splash pages to stun the reader. The character of Supergirl also seems too carefully-designed to win our sympathies just as her look has been designed to get the adolescent boys panting. Supergirl-- both the character and the comic book-- will need stronger stories if she is to stand out as more than just another Superman spin-off.
