Juston continues his quest for redemption...but the team of government agents on the trail of Juston's Sentinel may not give him the chance to make amends! Plus, a shocking development rocks Juston's family!
Well, that was a fun and interesting conclusion to a run. Sometimes things can fall flat and you feel cheated, but not here. We are still dealing with Juston’s guilt for fooling his friends, family and the town into thinking he is a hero. In part, the arc name “Awakening” is fitting for the journey Juston is on, but there is more, trust me! The real nice thing about this story is the fact that it doesn’t take the easy route. There are many occasions where if something had happened, it would have appeared as clichéd or safe. Sean show’s a deft hand at depicting reality though and that is nice to see. This is definitely seen in the ending too. Completely goes in the opposite direction and leaves some room for more stories.
The art reminds me of something you’d see on Toonami, a Samurai Jack, Beyblade vibe. It seems to fit into today’s Pop Culture nicely and this should be a draw for the Kid/Teen Demographics. Udon have good storytelling skills that intertwine well with McKeever’s narrative. The action has a bold feel to it: this IS comic book fun pure and simple. The only thing that was kinda off was the facial reactions. At times, it seemed like characters were shouting, but in the context of the story, this wasn’t happening. This could be part of the bolder than life approach to the work though and it doesn’t really affect a reader’s enjoyment.
