As Rokkin continues his dangerous journey to Demortia, he is joined by a mysterious Valkyrie. She aids him in his quest for a legendary sword that may give him a magical advantage in his battle against Lord Vulmax and his hordes. But standing between Rokkin and the sword is its bewitching guardian: the beautiful and deadly Medusa!
Rokkin #3 start's off fair enough, introducing Eva, who was last seen at the end of Rokkin #2 to the story. But from their on, things seem to move alittle to fast.
SPOILERS
Rokkin very quicky becomes friends with Eva, both vowing to each other to hunt down Lord Vulmax, this is understandable since she basically saved his life. But what isn't really feesable is the complete 180 degree turn towards the end of this issue where at one moment the 2 are shopping in town, having a jolly old time, and the next moment their on an insane quest to capture a Magical sword from Medusa. I found this complete turn to be way, way to fast, it really hit me off guard. You may not feel the same way as I, but it's undeniable that this 180 could have literally filled an entire issue by itself, here, it start's and finishes within 8 pages.
END SPOILERS
Understand that i'm all for moving a story along and not having to wait four issues to learn something that could be told in one, but I really feel that certain events within issue #3 could have been spread across 2 issues, rather then rushing it across one.
The Art is as great as ever, Disney style art with massive amounts of gore. Rokkin #3 I felt was a slight step back from the first two issue's, though it's still extremely good, and no reason to skip if you've read from the beginning. I'm still excited about Rokkin, and you should be to, just understand that nothing can be perfect all the time.
