While we were away for the long weekend (see: Victoria Day), Harmonix, MTV Games and Electronic Arts unveiled the set list for Rock Band Unplugged, the upcoming PSP exclusive version of their popular Rock Band music/rhythm franchise. The game includes an impressive list of tracks from the past few decades, going all the way back to the 60s, including songs from AFI, The Who, Jethro Tull, Audioslave and many more. In all, there will be 41 tracks featured in Rock Band Unplugged (not bad at all for one little UMD) from the already quite expansive Rock Band musiclibrary. Also, for a limited time, nine of those tracks will only be available exclusively in Rock Band Unplugged, until they are released as downloadable content (DLC) on other console versions (MTV Games has not given a specific time range).

Rock Band Unplugged will function similarly to the console versions of the franchise. Like the console versions, Unplugged will feature a number of fully functional gameplay modes, including World Tour, Band Survival, Warm Up and a character creator. The major difference is that your hands are the “peripherals” this time round, allowing players to take direct control of the instruments and vocals (Harmonix has not specified how that will work just yet). From the look of the game's trailer (below), the gameplay in Unplugged may function similarly to Harmonix's classic Playstation 2 music/rhythm title, Frequency.

The complete track list, organized alphabetically by band, by decade, and with Unplugged exclusive tracks in bold, is:

2000s

  • AFI - Miss Murder

  • All-American Rejects - Move Along

  • Audioslave - Gasoline

  • Black Tide - Show Me the Way

  • Freezepop - Less Talk More Rokk

  • Jimmy Eat World - The Middle

  • The Killers - Mr. Brightside

  • Lacuna Coil - Our Truth

  • Lamb of God - Laid to Rest

  • Modest Mouse - Float On

  • Queens of the Stone Age - 3's and 7's

  • System of a Down - Chop Suey!

  • Tenacious D - Rock Your Socks

1990s

  • 3 Doors Down - Kryptonite

  • Alice in Chains - Would?

  • Blink 182 - What's My Age Again

  • Foo Fighters - Everlong

  • Judas Priest - Painkiller

  • Lit - My Own Worst Enemy

  • Lush - De-Luxe

  • Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Where'd You Go?

  • Nine Inch Nails - The Perfect Drug

  • Nirvana - Drain You

  • The Offspring - Come Out and Play (Keep 'em Separated)

  • Pearl Jam - Alive

  • Smashing Pumpkins - Today

  • Social Distortion - I Was Wrong

  • Soundgarden - Spoonman

  • Weezer - Buddy Holly

1980s

  • Billy Idol - White Wedding Part 1

  • Bon Jovi - Livin' on a Prayer

  • Dead Kennedys - Holiday in Cambodia

  • Motörhead - Ace of Spades

  • The Police - Message in a Bottle

  • Siouxsie & the Banshees - The Killing Jar

1970s

  • Boston - More Than a Feeling

  • Jackson 5 - ABC

  • Jethro Tull - Aqualung

  • Kansas - Carry on Wayward Son

  • Rush - The Trees

1960s

  • The Who - Pinball Wizard

Continuing the tradition of keeping the music fresh and flowing, Rock Band Unplugged will be DLC compatible. In fact, Unplugged will be the first PSP game to be equipped with an in-game DLC store, so, like the console versions of Rock Band, you won't need to exit the game to look for content. The Playstation Network will power the in-game store, thus allowing players to use their existing Playstation Network accounts to purchase and download tracks, even through the Playstation Store on PC.

The first DLC tracks available to download when Rock Band Unplugged releases will be:

  • Muse - Hysteria

  • Mute Math - Typical

  • No Doubt - Just a Girl

  • Oasis - Wonderwall

  • Paramore - Crushcrushcrush

  • Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge

Finally, to hype up the debut of this first Rock Band title for PSP, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) is planning to release a limited edition PSP

Entertainment Pack when Rock Band Unplugged releases this June. The bundle will include a Piano Black PSP, a 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo and, in the United States only, a voucher to download Paramount Pictures' School of Rock from the Playstation Store.

It will also be priced at €39.99 in Europe and £24.99 in the United Kingdom when it releases there. The Rock Band Entertainment Pack is also set to release on June 9th, for $199.99 USD/CAD (though the Canadian price is not guaranteed because of the constantly fluctuating dollar.
