Runaways #16

The Runaways' biggest adventure continues, but have they really got what it takes to defeat their parents……let alone the Gibborim!

There so much you want to know from last issue, the anticipation to find out what happens just takes over. Vaughan really doesn't let you down with this issue. So much is revealed you're left mouth opened going WOW! Relationships are turned on there head along with the statues-quo and the Gibborim haven't even showed up yet. That's how bananas this issue is. And everything is gelled together with superb, witty, subtle writing that reflects such great characterisation.

Adrian Alphona's pencils are uncomplicated and simple, but they have always meshed perfectly with Vaughan's writing and tone. This issue was just crazy, Alphona's pencils were the same but infused with so much emotion and heart the events of the first few panels becomes as real as a live image. The action is handled really well, but it's the mole that really is a great touch. Their transformation in facial features is done to aplomb and look you're left with on the last page. Now that's something!
