ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #61 - CARNAGE

It would seem that inadvertently Peter set the ball rolling on the incarnation of Carnage. But what is Curt Conners motives here?

This was an interesting issue. It had plenty of forward progression in the storyline which was real good. There was an enthralling conversation between Peter and Curt Connors. This really displayed Connors eagerness and contrived sincerity. This will lead you to wonder about his motives. Especially after the end, which gives us a BIG clue to the nature of Carnage! We're also introduced to the Ultimate versions of some familiar characters. What impact they'll have when it's all said and done though, is anyone's guess.

The art is the usual high quality that Bagley displays month in, month out. The real highlights this issue are during the conversations. Where you can see the subplots of the interaction, via looks of anxiety, scepticism, shock and panic. Within the fight scenes there is a clarity to the action. But the last page, WOW! The eerie quality really brings out a reaction. The cover is good, but has no relevance, unless looked upon as a Freudian premonition.
