Daredevil: Lowlife

Lowlife is a compilation of Daredevil # 41-45 and the follow up to the great Daredevil Out storyline. When Daredevil's identity was exposed, I expected things to go right back to square one, after a few issues and that everybody would forget the scoop of the century. At worse, Bendis could have pulled a Spectre divine intervention, like Geoff Johns in the Flash. So far so good.Lowlife is about the outcome of the absence of the Kingpin in New York and the vacuum being filled by other villains, such as the old Daredevil nemesis, the Owl. This type of story, like the outing of Daredevil's identity has been done several times. The difference with Bendis' work, is that it actually makes sense and some non reversible decisions are made by several players. Did I mention Matt Murdock's new girlfriend?
Alex Maleev continues to give Daredevil fans some of the best work on the series since David Mazzucchelli. I like the subtlety of his work, such as when reporter Ben Ulrich is seen doing his work, by following Matt Murdock like a paparazzo. Maleev's numerous repetitions are great for storytelling, although one can feel his uneasiness when faced with action scenes, They aren't as clear as the quiet moments.
