Good-bye, Roberto Gregory. Though I haven't been a regular reader of her comic NAUGHTY BITS since the late 1990's, I am sad to learn that #40 is the last issue of the 13-year old series. Issue 40 is like every other issue in terms of subject matter. Roberta's venerable "Bitchy Bitch" character is the opening shot, and the character, as always, gives the entire book an acerbic tone, whether or not that's supposed to be the tone for an entire issue.
Ms. Gregory also includes a two-pager about a favorite pastime of hers, buying books at library sales. I won't call it autobiographical because not all comix about someone's life are necessarily autobiographical. Sometimes, as in the case of "I Love the Library Sale," such a comic is a peak at the daily log of the minutiae of a life. Roberta simply knows how to make it interesting comix. Naughty Bits may be gone, but fortunately, Roberta promises to keep giving us her cartoons, even if doing so means another publishing format. B+
