Young Avengers #2

Captain America, Iron Man, and Jessica Jones learn the secret origin of Iron Lad. A familiar face shows up to demand a place on the team, but what’s up with Patriot!?!

The first issue had its flaws, but definitely intrigued me enough to be looking forward to this issue. I have to say that I wasn’t let down. You can see Heinberg’s dialogue (I felt it was shaky in places, but not horrible) has improved and the story not only flowed nicely, but had some nice turns. I don’t know anything about Kang, so the history we learnt was interesting. Couple that with the arrival of the person near the end to can’t wait till issue #3 rolls round.

This issue, we don’t get any big splash pages shots, but Cheung doesn’t need these to shine. All the way through the story flows nicely. The action sequences have energy to them and the proportions help to give a sense of realism. The Kang history pages are the stand outs this issue. Having a central focal point, then the outer images as a frame worked perfectly.
