There's a lot to like about Peter Milligan's X-STATIX, but I must give him even more credit. Never has a mainstream comic book made it so plain that some people (a number larger than we'd like to admit) will kill their friends and associates with much gusto for money and power, as #16 did.
X-Statix is not about super heroes set in the real world. It's about super heroes with self-interests, who aren't there to save the day, but to get paid. Unlike fans of Watchmen, however, I wouldn't want a whole slew of X-Statix rip offs because few writers can do it the way Milligan does.
