Rated “T+” for “Teen Plus”

Nariyuki Yuiga is a high school senior who comes from an impoverished family.  He is eager to secure a full scholarship, known as “the Special VIP Recommendation,” to college before he graduates.  His principal agrees to give him the scholarship, but there is one stipulation.  Yuiga must tutor the three smartest girls in school:  Rizu Ogata, Fumino Furuhashi, and, Uruka Takemoto, so that they can get into their target colleges.  However, each girl wants to focus on a subject area in which she is practically an utter failure!

We Never Learn, Vol. 4 (A Lost Lamb in New Territory Encounters [ X ]; Chapter 26 to 34) opens in the school nurse's office in the aftermath of Takemoto's accident.  Hiding under the bed, Yuiga hears that Takemoto's secret crush is him!

Later, when his mother is sick, Yuiga decides to fill in for her at her job, “Luxur Jelly,” which turns out to be a lingerie store!  Things get worse when Ogata, Furuhashi, and Takemoto all come shopping, and school guidance counselor, Mafuyu Kirisu isn't far behind.  Finally, there is a young woman known as “Ashumi, the Pixie Maid,” who works at “Maid Cafe High Stage.”  Is she the next struggling student who needs Yuiga's tutoring?

THE LOWDOWN:  The We Never Learn manga is a high school romantic comedy, but it is a shonen manga (comics for teen boys) and not a shojo manga (comics for teen girls).  It is a sexy romp in the vein of Nisekoi: False Love and the classic Strawberry 100%. (both of which are also published by VIZ Media), in which the focus is on the teen boy, with buxom teen girls as the supporting cast.

We Never Learn Graphic Novel Volume 4 offers fanservice and raunchy comedy, which is usual for this series.  However, I think that Vol. 4 has hit its stride, as this is the best volume yet.  There is not one average chapter in this volume, and most of the chapters focus on the characters' personalities.  The “Luxur Jelly” chapter is riot, and the mini-story arc about Ogata's kissing experiment is sweet and charming, as ridiculous as its scenario may be.

Of course, a new character is introduced, and it is obvious within a few pages, that she has a winning personality.  I think this is the Nisekoi replacement that I needed, and I think fans of fanservice high school comedies and of young lust will want We Never Learn.

POSSIBLE AUDIENCE:  Fans of shonen high school comedies will want to learn about the Shonen Jump title, We Never Learn.
