Playstation
Store now accessible via PCs
Sony
Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) unveiled the Playstation Store
for PC in North America today. PSP users can now access their
Playstation Network games, video content, and other services over the
Internet, using a personal computer at store.playstation.com.
The new free service allows users to create a Playstation Network
account and download free or purchased content directly from the
Playstation Store, all without the need for a Playstation 3.
“
The
library of innovative, downloadable games, videos and entertainment
content available through the Playstation Store provides a new way
for PSP owners to get content and demonstrates the continued
evolution of Playstation Network,” said Peter Dille, senior
vice-president of marketing and Playstation Network for SCEA. The
Playstation Network allows PSP users to download classic Playstation
games, download free PSP playable demos and game trailers, download
exclusive Playstation Store titles for PSP and even play some PSP
games without requiring a UMD.
New
PS3 firmware now available, fixes bugs
SCEA
released a new firmware update for Playstation 3 today, and it's all
about fixing bugs. Firmware Version 2.01 is an update that should
take care of a large number of issues that Playstation 3 users
started noticing after they updated to Firmware Version 2.00. Some of
the fixes include improved stability when playing some Playstation 3
format software (
Assassin's
Creed
would crash due to the Information Board), improved stability for
some of the system applications, including the Internet Browser and
Information Board, improved stability for the upscaler for
Playstation 2 format software on PS3 models with backwards
compatibility and a Remote Start feature update. For more information
on the update, click here.
