ULTIMATES #2 Vol. 2

Who leaked the most terrible secret the Ultimates keep, and what does it have to do with Banner? Captain America takes matters into his own hands and confronts ex-Ultimates member Mighty Thor!

Last issue was great, so this issue was set up for big things. Unfortunately though, it fell kinda flat. The issue itself wasn’t that bad, but the start really through off the momentum. We’re thrown into the middle of a situation with a Submarine, that isn’t explained, so its magnitude is lost on the reader. In the rest of the story, the Ultimates are trying to fathom out how to handle their current crises, which we also get to see from Banner’s (The Hulk) point of view. Also, we get more on the Thor situation. Oh and the Wanda, Pierto stuff is scary!

The art was typical Hitch, nice pencils, clean lines. There’s a really nice page, which depicts a Pagoda ride down an Italian river street and the Thor pages are real nice, with good facial expression. The rest of the standout stuff has to be credited to Laura Martin though. The shot of Time Square, Thor using his powers and the sunset beach, have fantastic colouring and so does the cover. I did think that Ultimate Captain Britain looks practically the same as normal Captain Britain and those opening pages were a bit shaky.
