I knew that today was going to be a good day. On the 31st of May, I called toys "R" US to see if they had received a shipment with the Fantastic Four as I am still looking for the Super Skrull action figure. The young lady told me that the FF toyline had been discontinued but that a truck was being unloaded as we speak. Knowing that Toys "R" US is also a partner with Amazon.com, and that Amazon let anyone who visited their site know that on the first of June the "Bad Guys" series of Marvel Legends figures would be available, I had made a toy hunting deduction. So knowing that I had that Thursday off when that I could take my girls shopping and visit TRU all in one shot. Lo and behold, my toy hunting intuition served me well !!!!
I walked into the action figure toy aisle and right behind some of the
Apocalypse series figures were the "Onslaught" series figures. I
immediately picked up the most wanted of the set: The Abomination, the
Green Goblin, and Pyro. I had the kind lady at the desk hold the rest for
me.
I plan to come back after I cash my check and pick up Loki, Lady Deathstrike, and Blackheart on the next day. That way I won't be completely broke after shopping for my family and June 2nd can be a good day for me as well.

I also started writing reviews for action figures at a site called
comicbookbin.com, so please check it and give it a chance and tell me what you
think. Talk with you gys later and happy toy hunting. Until the 3rd
assortment of X-Men figures prepare to drive me wild, keep searching those
aisles .....

Due to other obligations, I was not able to make it down to Toys "R" Us to
pick up the remaining figures of the Onslaught series on June 2nd as I had
expected to do. However, Toys "R" Us was kind enough to hold the figures
for an extra day which gave me time to claim the rest of Marvel Legends series
13 for myself. Early Sunday morning I went to TRU and picked up the last 3
figures, and that Sunday on the 4th day June, truly became a good day for
me.
I now own the Loki, Lady Deathstrike, and Blackheart figures as well as the
Abomination, Green Goblin, and Pyro action figures. Now my Onslaught
figure is complete. While he is not as large as the other build-a-figures,
he is easily more detailed. The sculpting based on the "crab" version of
Onslaught easily rivals the detailing of the Sentinel figure. I also
need to let the buyers know that Toy Biz is adding a new aspect to, at least
this particular series, of the Marvel Legends.
Normally, when the transition to the build-a-figure went into play, the
only accessory for most figures was the actual build-a-figure piece that each
figure was package with. In this particular series, the Onslaught series
offers a peg, or a clip stand to hold a background diorama in place. This
added high-light is actually on the front of the card that holds the figure in
the clamshell packaging. In other words, once you remove the comic
book, you will see a character specific diorama. An example is that there
is a Manhattan skyline for the Green Goblin and a background of flames for
Pyro. Now the suggested idea is to cut out these diorama, but I won't do
that. I will either display it with the full card or not. To cut the
card is to destroy one of the unique things about the Marvel Legends
figures. The card gives you a brief synopsis on the character with
an idea of the powers that each character possess.
Now I can't wait until the release of Rogue and Avalanche of the X-Men
series and the coming of the Shocker and Mad Jack from Spider-Man Classics 18,
also there's the new Electro figure from the up-coming SMC #
19.
PS: I traded in my Stealth Cyclops figure (he lacks the proper arm
movement for me), in order to get one of the Onlsaught series figure.
Since I now have three different versions of Cyclops, it was worth the
transaction. That Onslaught series is pretty hot. My personal
reviews and pictures are soon to come.

PS: At the local Target, I saw two of the "cat-head" versions of the new
Beast figure. I guess because I grew up reading of the old blue "gorilla"
styled version of Hank McCoy that I am not impressed with his feline
variant. It is not that it looks bad, it is just not what I am used
to. Nostalgia makes me feel like I made the right decisions by sticking
with the normal version of the X-Men's Beast. Now if you like cat-head
than good for you, but give me classic fur-ball McCoy any day of the week.

Toy Hunting News for
JUNE
Now is a good time to spend a few extra dollars on Amazon.com.
Although I do have a few personal problems with Amazon, they do have a nice
selection and do give good sales from time to time. Now is one of those
times to take advantage of. They have a few DC Direct, Marvel Legends, and
Spider-Man figures on sale to purchase. If you are a collector, missing a
few figures, or even a custom toy maker, now is the time to see what you can
find between the $5.00 - $10.00 range.
