Is it birthright, is it happenstance, or is it in the making? Thor finds out the hard way as he seeks answers on how to face the coming end of his people. To find his answers, Thor must walk the path of his father and embark on the hero's journey - the journey into mystery! He must surpass his father's deeds in the search for knowledge and pay the ultimate price. This story has such an epic feel to it and just seems to get better with each issue. Oeming & Berman understand the Norse mythology and not only do they embrace it, but they add to it in a way that enhances the already magnificent tapestry. Thor has given up much and he is not even sure it is enough to garner the understanding he needs to help his people. What we see here, this issue resonates a life lesson. Only with true understanding of what has been and empathy for others can we truly wield wisdom. Divito continues to turn in some of the best work of his career here. The visual exploration of Thor's journey doesn't even need explanation, it's that good. The strange thing was, at the start of the issue, the colours seemed a little brighter than they have been and this took some of the graveness away. Everything goes back to normal as soon as Thor gets back to Asgard though. The depiction of Thor battling Loki is a nice touch on the cover.
