Spectacular Spider-man, just turned 3 issues old. How is it doing. Well, we've had one really bad issue and one real good issue. So which way will this one swing!?!
This was solid I suppose. Can't really say anything was bad or anything. I just can't say anything was standout. This was jus pretty bland all the way through. We're given a twist at the end, but even that comes off a little lukewarm.
I don't expect Spidey to crack jokes every second, but that is his thing. Bust jokes to defuse a situation, from someone off their game. Didn't work here though. Not much gelling between characters, most of the interaction seems flat.
The art, what can I say. I thought I was getting it, but now, I'm lost again. Nothing seemed to fit for me. Proportions seemed off. Facial expressions seemed wooden and didn't really sell any sort of emotion. And Venom, damn, what the hell. He just looked like a big mess.
Don't get me wrong though, this isn't bad, bad, maybe in Trade format this will fit together better, as a single issue it struggles to draw you to the next issue. The one saving grace is the ending, only just though!
