SHINING KNIGHT # 1 (of 4)

One of the titles under the giant SEVEN SOLDIERS crossover, this story takes off from the old Shining Knight character of the 1940s but the story doesn't conform to either the old DC continuity or mainstream Arthurian legend. This time creatures from another dimension, the Sheeda, are responsible for destroying the Knights of the Round Table and 16-year-old Sir Justin, with his talking, flying horse Vanguard, is the only survivor, catapulted to present-day Los Angeles after attempting to stop the Sheeda. The tale has some great sequences, fantastic concepts and genuinely moving scenes but it also gets confusing at certain points when you can't tell just exactly what is going on. The same can be said for the art. Certain panels have a beauty and detail that make them worthy of being turned into a poster but other panels just look jumbled. A lot of readers may be left thinking, "that was great. I just wish I knew what happened."
