DC COMICS
WRITER: Will Pfeifer
PENCILS: Patrick Gleason
INKS: Christian Alamy
COVER: Alan Davis

There was a bit of a spoiler for me this issue because I interviewed Will Pfeifer last month and knew what was coming. The first pages of the comic book have been on several Web sites too killing the suspense. However, the new creative team is setting Aquaman in a less over the top adventure and more they that will build and refine something that for the months to come.

This is the first time that I read anything by Pfeifer. He’s a good plotter. There are three arcs. The one in the middle, with the President is a nice bridge to the final take, where things start to spark my interest. It’s the only section I reread several times. Although I know where the story will go, Pfeifer made the ride in the last chapter very interesting. I like his Aquaman.

Art wise, DC didn’t budget the best for this book’s colouring. Perhaps when Aquaman becomes a hot seller again, they will change that. Gleason is great. However, he needs a strong inker. For some odd reason, the middle chapter with the President looked different from other sections. The panel composition he used on page nine was ingenious, yet discreet. Can’t wait for more.
