1. JSA #70, 23 pts
"This title is always at the top of my reading list, and for good reason. It's always entertaining, and well-written. Plus, unlike some posters, I love a good time-travel story, so its got that going for it as well... Lots of wonderful character stuff happening, and I can't wait for it all to pay off in future issues." positiveman, DC Message Boards
2. JLA #111, 10 pts
This time the fight scenes started getting on. Some of them were fairly nonsensical, but There were definitely enough entertaining events to keep it interesting.
3. Fables #34, 9 pts
The first eventful issue in a while. It follows what Jack has done since he disappeared, and he's done a lot! Very interesting story, saying a lot about this culture that needs to be said.
4. Gotham Central #28, 7 pts
"I dunno, I'm just kind of bored with GC lately. Nothing in this book has been bad per se, it just doesn't bowl me over like it did when I first picked it up. Having the regular people of Gotham stumble on the doings of a supervillain has been done before, and doesn't seem nearly as fresh as it did back at GC#1 . I wish Rucka would have focused on a character other than Montoya. With such a large cast it would have been nice had Rucka not gone to a character he had already devoted a whole storyline to. I enjoyed Brubaker's stories more that Rucka's on GC (although I like Rucka) and with Bru and Michael Clark leaving this book for the Marvelous competition I fear DC might just kill this book off." jimmyking, DC Message Boards
(tied for 5th) Aquaman #27, 6 pts
"Nice little wrap up to the story. Look a storyline that only took two issues! How refreshing in light of all these draw out six part arcs that are in fashion these days." rouge2, DC Message Boards
(tied for 5th) Ultimates 2 #3, 6 pts
Trial of the Hulk. No big surprises here, just some good characterization. Sets the stage for bigger events later on. The main event of this arc for me has been the expansion of Betty Ross's character. She went from just being a blond cutout before to being somebody who at least has a definable, and even possibly interesting, personality.
(tied for 7th) Outsiders #20, 5 pts
"Great issue. Two of my favourite characters take centre stage, we get a nice big action sequence, and the Outsiders learn the dark secret about their corporate backers. It's so nice to see a self-contained story, they're so rare these days. Art was nice, a HUGE improvement over the artist from the last arc. Don't like the corny cover art fool you, this one is really good." mistermiracle, DC Message Boards
(tied for 7th) Batman: The Man Who Laughs, 5 pts
Good Brubaker story about Batman vs. The Joker. The first half of the issue was fairly boring, but the second half was a very good read. Nice dialogue, and good characterization throughout.
(tied for 7th) Nightwing #103, 5 pts
"This is the second title of the week that was short on action. But three issues into the Year One arc, Dixon finally gives us some new revelations about Nightwing's origins. I like the way that Silver and Bronze Age elements were woven into the story. So far it is my favorite issue of the arc. If Chuck can avoid rehashing too much established history, the second half of this arc should be a lot of fun." altamont, DC Message Boards
(tied for 10th) Captain America #3, 4 pts
"Man, this is the best Cap I've seen in years. This story has so many twists and turns you simply have no idea what's coming next. The artwork is gorgeous, the characterization spot on -- there's nothing more a comic fan could ever ask for. Brubaker is THE writer of the moment in my book. Oh -- we finally get to see a bit of what Cap carries in his little belt pouches too. Nifty." ishmael1st, DC Message Boards
(tied for 10th) Majestic #2, 4 pts
"This is quite different for Wildstorm, the writing I real similar to Warren Ellis, it's Abnett and Lanning, formerly of "Legion". Majestic is a cross between Superman and Green Lantern." spacecadet55, DC Message Boards
(tied for 10th) New Thunderbolts #5, 4 pts
"Marvel's best team book continues its well written, beautifully drawn series. Nicieza and Grummett (with Erskine on blacks) create explosive action of real superheroes, not 22 pages of talking heads ala Bendis. The floundering team continues to succeed with the true villian popping its ugly head out in the end. By far Marvel's best title." dubipr, DC Message Boards
