The Ravager is the daughter of Slade Wilson, Deathstroke the Terminator. Her mother is Sweet Lili Worth, an Asian princess and brothel headmistress. The Ravager first appeared in Deathstroke the Terminator # 15 in 1992. The third family member of Slade Wilson’s family to be the Ravager, she inherited powers similar to Jericho’s, her brother. Her father also gave her the same serum that gabve him his powers.

Likeness

This action figure sports the updated costume of the Ravager adopted after Rose took out her own eye. The former suit had a light blue banner from head to toe. This version is more similar to the classic Deathstroke colours. There is chain mail on her chest, her mask is split into an orange and a dark blue section. A characteristic of this character are the long buccaneer’s boots that give the impression that she’s wearing bellbottoms.

Sculpt

Ravager is petite. Although her left eye socket is hidden under her mask, there’s a bulge there. It’s a great detail. She has chain mail all over her arms and her back. She is not posed for a fight. It’s as if she were in a trance waiting to receive an order from her father. I don’t like the lack of details in the figure’s soles. Her bellbottoms’ boots merged with her feet. That’s lack of care.

Paint

The pain application on Ravager is clean. Parts of hers suit that look metallic in the comics are covered with golden paint. Her chain mail also has metallic blue paint.

Scale

teentitans004_001.jpg

The Ravager is shorter than Deathstroke and Brother Blood but taller than the contemporary Kid Flash. The contemporary Wondergirl is a little taller than her. She really feels like a teenaged assassin. Of course, all the contemporary Teen Titans action figures from the first and the second wave are in scale. She will fit well with older Titans such as Cyborg or characters like the Hush Nightwing.

Stability

Ravager is very stable thanks to her flat soles. Not being top heavy and a small figure, she will stand perfectly. Most of her weight is in her thick boots. She comes with a Teen Titans-styled action figure stand that will allow her to stay grounded for added security. However the peg bar in all the Teen Titans-styled action figures stands are too short to work with other DC Direct Action figures.

Articulation

Ravager has eleven articulations at the neck, the shoulders, the elbows, the wrists, the hips and the knees. Her shoulders have ball-joints. Be careful with her elbows’ articulations. They are thin and could break easily. She can pick up her sword with each hand. One can insert the sword in a slot next to her right hip.

Plastic

Ravager’s plastic is stronger than that of the first contemporary Teen Titans’ wave. Unlike the older wave, she is less affect by warm weather and does not bend as easily. Her sword is cast in light PVC. The laces tying her mask are probably in rubber.

Props

Besides her sword and action figure stand, Ravager comes with no other accessories. A cool addition would have been the alternate head she had before she poked her eye out.

Packaging

All contemporary Teen Titans action figures from DC Direct come on the same card. DC Direct puts a sticker on the card with the character’s name. This is a smart cost saving feature. On the back of the card, there are images of all the figures from this wave and the first one. They each have small bios. There is some comic book styled artwork too.

Cost

Ravager costs the same as most DC Direct single action figures, although prices often vary from wave to wave these days. As DC Direct has reduced its prices, this figure is more affordable. You will find it in the $12 American or $16 Canadian range. Deals are often available when all figures in a wave are bought at once.

Availability

Ravager is not the most popular of the Teen Titans’ character. Although Rose Wilson has appeared in comics for a decade, her costumed days are recent. Perhaps as she forges a name for herself, like when fighting Batgirl, more people will be aware of this character. Unfortunately, female action figures are often less popular. So expect Ravager to spend much time gathering dust on stores’ pegs.
