Book Description
Many years ago, in ancient Japan, two powerful scrolls, the scroll of Heaven and the scroll of Earth were separated. The evil Nobunaga managed to claim the scroll of Heaven but the scroll of Earth was sealed inside the body of a young girl named Princess Hanzou Hattouri, known as Han to those that know her best. Years later Nobunga's troops are roving across the land looking for the limitless power held within the scroll of Earth, unaware that the power is held within the body of Han. Eventually they come to the village of young Han, who was rescued by the village baker five years before and who has no knowledge of her life before coming to the village, only that she feels she must train as a ninja.
When Nobunaga's troops invade the village the threaten Han's guardian and Han becomes the Princess ninja of the title, and the new defender of the scroll of the Earth.

Story
The story in this book is very fast paced, probably a little too fast paced. The first few pages set the background and (very) briefly introduce the main characters. However the characters aren't really introduced enough before Han becomes the Princess Ninja and is thrown head long into the action. The remainder of the book tells the story of how Han defends her villagers from Nubunga's troops.

Art
Sasaki's art work in this book is very cartoon-ey, and makes heavy use of the big eye-ed characters used in books such as Demon Diaries. Shadows and action lines are used very effectively and the shading that represents leaves and sky/clouds looks great.

Conclusion
Overall this is a very enjoyable book. It's interesting in that it would definitely appeal more to the younger readers, but at times they may fall down with the way that the story jumps around quite a lot. For readers who like Demon Diaries this would be a great book to read.
