One year later, the new Outsiders are revealed. Too bad they couldn't make it more interesting. There is a slow buildup regarding child soldiers in some fictional African nation and how the Outsiders now infiltrate the bad guys before taking them down. But the reader never gets a chance to care about the situation in the first place because it seems so nebulous. Even Winick's old tricks of using mass killings and rapes to get attention, doesn't work. The art doesn't help much as it becomes difficult to tell one character from the other. The Outsiders themselves look rather unattractive, making this book a chore to read. By they way, SPOILER ALERT-- isn't the new recruit to the team, Captain Boomerang II, a multiple murderer? Well, maybe he will fit right in with this sordid, new look.
