Seems
like it's another slow news day at News Pop! today. Coming back from
the weekend with some important news, especially after such a big
week for announcements, like Nintendo announcing the
price and release date of the Wii, is pretty difficult. We'll
still try our best anyway.
Amazon
sells out of Wii Pre-orders
As
it turns out, not even one whole day after Nintendo announced the
price and release date of the Wii, Amazon sold out of its Wii
pre-orders. We found the report at Kotaku, the original coming from
CD Freaks. That
doesn't mean that Amazon won't necessarily have Wii systems available
for purchase come launch day. It just means that those who didn't
want to have to worry about the possibility of not being able order a
Wii on launch day won't have to, if they got their pre-order that is.
The pre-order was without a bundle.
For
those still wishing to pre-order a Wii, at least in Canada,
Toys'R'us.ca, and some of its store locations are still taking
pre-order bundle deposits. $50 CAD is the price to reserve the
system, but you'll also have to commit to buying an extra controller
and two games. While Americans already know how much extra
controllers are going to set them back, Canadians still don't have
confirmed pricing for any of those peripherals. We contacted Nintendo
of Canada today, but the reps were unable to tell us what Canadians
can expect to shell out for the peripherals. Currently, we can only
speculate the cost, so that's just what we decided to do. Based on
the current pricing of $60 USD for a Wii remote and nunchuck
attachment purchased together, we calculated that the probable price
of the two in Canadian Dollars and came to an approximate price of
$70-$75 before tax.
That's
all for News Pop! today. If you're not up to date with the latest
gaming news feel free to check out our very first week of News Pop!.
